I understand that being the "sports radio talk show guy" that makes most people want to have a conversation about their favorite sport with me and honestly I'm ok with that. The one thing that I can't stand though are these "We need to get rid of Tony Romo" Cowboys fans. If you start the conversation off with the Cowboys need to cut Romo, you have officially lost all credibility in my eyes. At this point I just wanna get out of this conversation as quickly as possible. Look Cowboys fans, I understand there is a HUGE difference between Tony Romo and Tom Brady but my question is...Who else are you going to get to play QB for Dallas? There was no one in the draft, no free agents that were worth it, nothing. The Dallas Cowboys need to focus on building up the team around Romo. The main complaint about Tony is his gun slinger mentality makes him commit crucial mistakes. When he makes those crucial mistakes is he usually running for his life because his line did a horrific job of blocking for him? The answer to that question obviously is yes. The fact is that when Tony has time to throw the ball he is one of the best QB's in the NFL. First round draft pick Travis Fredrick is a great start to building a solid offensive line. Then there's the drama with Doug Free, a source close to Free tells me the veteran anticipates not being with the Cowboys as of June 1, an indication he is presently unwilling to accept Dallas’ proposal that would reduce his $7 million salary and allow him to possibly keep his job starting at right tackle. Free has not lived up to what the Cowboys thought he would become and him leaving and signing a guy such as Eric Winston at right tackle helps the OL even more. These changes along with a better pass rush, a #3 WR to step up such as Beasley, Harris or 3rd round pick Terrance Williams can place the Cowboys in a playoff spot. I am a Texans fan and if Houston traded Matt Shaub for Tony Romo I would be elated. Do not come up to me ever again and say the Cowboys need to get rid of Romo, it's just a stupid argument.
